NERO Atlanta, and its Tyrangel campaign, is among the oldest active NERO International chapters dating back to 1991. Because of this, the Tyrangel campaign has a rich and colorful history that has been developed both by the various plot teams and the numerous players over the years. Do not let this discourage you, however, as there is plenty of opportunity for players new to the campaign to carve out their own place and write their own part of the next chapter in the history of this great campaign.
The Duchy of Tyrangel is located in the southeast region of Avalon, west of Therendry and north of the Duchy of the Sutherlands. It is a part of the Principality of Westhaven, along with the Duchies of Ignavis and the Sutherlands, and as of 609ER is comprised of two Counties: Theisgate and Araman.
In the year 226ER, Tyrangel was cut off from the rest of Tyrra by an impenatrable time bubble created by the actions of adventurers and the machinations of time elementals. When the people of Tyrangel realized the implications of being isolated from the surrounding lands, they turned to their leader, Talandas Stormbringer for help. Talandas assumed the title of Contessa and put in place the framework that would help her people survive by forming the Palatine of Tyrangel.
When the bubble disappeared in the year 603ER, the people of Tyrangel embraced the world outside - a world which saw the people and lands much changed from the former Duchy of Tyrangel they had known. They rejoined the Kingdom of Evendarr and began the process of assimilating themselves back into the world that had gone on without them.
Around 605ER, a great plague of undeath swept through the Duchy and ravaged the populace for several years. Eventually this plague was overcome, but not without great cost in terms of loss of life and destruction of property. Since then, Tyrangel has been rebuilding itself to its former glory and prominence within the Kingdom of Evendarr.
